The delegation - led by Vice President Professor Sibylle Brunner - consisted of 20 members of the Society, who came from a wide range of professional fields of activity. Represented were, for example, a professional Omani blogger, a hydropower specialist, a journalist, a rural development specialist, a physician, a tax consultant, a pharmacist, communal politicians and diplomats.
The visiting programme was diverse: political and economic as well as technical and cultural topics from Oman's current development. The group was received by high and highest authorities. Already in the run-up, during the organisation of the programme, it had become clear that our Society and its objectives were met with great goodwill from the Omani political side. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the group with a bus and driver free of charge for the entire duration of the programme.
A special highlight was an invitation to lunch by the founding father of the Society, Shaikh Saud al-Nabhani at his farm in Tanuf: During his term as Omani ambassador (then still in Bonn), the German-Omani Society was founded in his official rooms in 1992 (see entry 20.12.2022).
